Nicolson paddle, Poolewe

Magnus, Hannah, Gabe, Christian, Joss, Scott and Ewan joined me for a busy afternoon kayaking. When everyone’s wearing wetsuits it can’t help but get splashy!

Magnus, Hannah, Gabe, Christian, Joss, Scott and Ewan joined me for a busy afternoon kayaking. When everyone’s wearing wetsuits it can’t help but get splashy!
Kelly, Jon, Emma, Joseph, Kellie, Isaac, Rubin and Dylan all joined me for a busy morning on the water. Lots of fun was had paddling about, playing games and learning skills.
Dawn had such a good time last time she persuaded Rupert, Scarlet and George to join her this time. It might have been slightly grey but that didn’t stop every ones spirits.
Scarlet has paddled with me plenty of times before during her time in the local scouts, with a 2 day descent of the Ardèche Gorge being a highlight.
Guy and Beryl had family up, so obviously they wanted to get out in kayak with them. Very different boats to the slalom kayaks that they learnt to paddle in.
Kat, Jon, Callum and Euan paddled with me from Poolewe. A fun time spent exploring the coastline, non stop smiles throughout!
Ken, Carlyn, Heather and Fiona came out to explore the coastline around Inverewe garden from kayaks. As we paddled around we had some little eyes watching us from the depths – seals are very inquisitive and love to see what we’re up to!
Fraser, Clare, Hamish, Donald and Martha met me in Poolewe for a fun morning on the water. Martha joined me in my canoe whilst the others paddled kayaks. Donald helpfully showed us all perfect capsize techniques!
Amanda, Edwin, Archie and Marsaili joined me again for another fun session on the water. I’ve paddled with them in a few locations around here, so it was great to be able to paddle around the craggy coastline of Mellon Charles with them this time. Great to see them again!
The small problem for my many repeat customers is that they have to put up with some of the same rubbish jokes each time!
George, Lynda, Isla and Freya spent the morning paddling around from the boom beach in Mellon Charles. Blue skies, sunshine and kayak – what more could you want!
Busy afternoon on the water with Fiona, Lachlann, Hope, Lynne, Brian, Sofia and Erin. They’d been out with me last year and where keen to get out again as soon as restrictions allowed.
What better way for putting smiles on faces could there be than paddling to a remote island beach for hot chocolate and biscuits?!
Mary and John moved to the area back in January just in time to be covid locked down in the best place! It was John’s birthday – what better thing to do on your birthday than paddle with the seals and have a brew on a remote island beach!
Mary’s got a passion for photography, she’s quickly getting a name for herself locally! @kavanakphoto
Dawn joined me for a paddle around the craggy coastline near Gairloch harbour. An otter joined us for a quick splash as we gently paddled around.
With the governments move to stage 2 I’m now able to start operating on a small scale. I shall be sticking to government guidelines along with the guidelines produced by the Scottish Canoe Association.
Since I never mix groups you can be assured that you’ll not be joining a session with other people.
I can only cater for local people in this, I will not be accepting bookings from anyone who does not live in my local area. Have a look at the details above for a bit more information. If you’d like to book an adventure then please email or call me.
If you’re hoping to come to the area later in the year when travel and accommodation restrictions might be lifted then please contact me and we can look at provisionally booking your adventure.
Any questions, just ask.

It looks like we’ll move into phase one in a week, that means we’re allowed back on the water again! It’s got to be the longest period that I’ve not been out in one of my boats for many years, so it will be good to be out paddling.
Typically I’ve only just got around to getting my canoe into the garage to give the wooden gunwales a bit of tlc! All my other boats are sat waiting ready to go.
It looks like it will be a little while yet before I’ll be able to take groups out again, but keep contacting me if you’re keen to get on the water and we’ll sort something out when we can.
Stay safe.
Ruth and Simon met me at Gairloch harbour to explore the craggy coastline and spot wildlife. We had the normal seal sightings as we headed around, the seals being just as interested in us as we were in them. The crystal clear water enabled us to spot lots of tiny spiny starfish along with the occasional huge one.
John, Barbara and Jame had some lovely calm weather for their adventure. We set off just across the road from their campsite and explored the coastline around the world famous Inverewe Garden. The water was crystal clear, letting us spot plenty of wildlife below the depths.
