Bob is completing the Haswell Smith islands of Scotland – a list of 168 islands above a certain size. His aim is to reach the high point on each of these islands. We paddled across and then headed up to the 73m high point at the north western end.

Karen, Alan, Wendy, Chris, Martin, Jane, Pete and June all joined me on a grey but beautifully calm morning. Not a ripple on the water as we paddled our way around the craggy coastline.

Suzanne and Brian joined me again, just over a year since the last time. We had hoped to get out on the water last week as well but the wind had different ideas. A lovely calm day and low tide meant we could spot lots of starfish, urchins and jellyfish.

Kate joined me on a very calm day amongst windy ones. When we stopped for a brew on a little island we had a seal come in very close to watch us, I think he fancied a hot chocolate!

Eddie, Alan, Colin and David met me on a calmer afternoon than it has been lately. It was a nice break in the weather to get out on the water. We had four seals putting on a display as we enjoyed our brew on a remote beach.

Sophia, Joe, Hilary and Carl all joined me for an afternoon kayaking. We headed out to improve our strokes and explore the area on the water.

Lucy and Russ joined me on the water from Poolewe. We headed out in the sea kayaks to explore the coastline and Boor rocks.

Tony and Fiona booked a full day paddling with me, the weather was due to get windy later on in the day so we opted to start early and try to get off before it got too bumpy. Turned out that the majority of our paddle was very calm and relaxing, the worst bit was the final bit whilst in the harbour returning to the slipway. Five otters spotted today, always nice to see them frolicking around in the water and on the rocks!

Emilia, Danny, Hannah, Gabbi and Ella met me for an afternoon kayaking during their highlands weekend mini holiday. We had some fun playing games, exploring the coastline and munching on seaweed.

Emma and Ciaran joined me to explore the craggy coastline by Inverewe garden. We improved our skills before paddling around to see the scenery and spot wildlife.

Chris, Lee and Robert joined me for an afternoon kayaking at Poolewe. Chris had been out kayaking earlier on in the year and was keen to get out again with a bit of tuition.

Nick, Anita, Rowan and Murron joined me to explore the coastline by kayak. We headed around Inverewe garden, practicing some skills, spotting wildlife and enjoying the scenery.

Tanya, David, Caz, Robbie, Hannah and Frank all joined me again for another fun session on the water. I had a first today, first time I’ve seen a Minke Whale on a session. We didn’t just see it, we had it surface just a few metres from our boats! It gave us all a bit of a shock when it first appeared.

Sadie and Tim joined me again a year to the day since last time. We headed out from Gairloch this time and had extremely calm water to paddle on – practically no ripples at all.

Luke and Gemma are traveling the NC500 on their honeymoon, what better way to celebrate than a trip kayaking with Ewe Canoe! We had a good calm afternoon to enjoy the scenery from. I spotted a couple of white tailed eagles on the hill side, as we watched them they took off and soared across the skies above us, then another took off to make it three eagles!

Ian, Jenny, Rachel and Alex joined me for a morning kayaking. We had some extremely calm water to paddle on – it was almost ripple free for most of the morning – very relaxing!

Alison and John joined me for an afternoon exploring the waters from Gairloch harbour. As well as seeing seals as we paddled about when we got back to the harbour we spotted an otter swimming about catching it’s tea.

Debbie and Ian spent the morning kayaking with me. We headed out from Gairloch harbour around to Kerry Bay. It was a high tide but because it was very calm we were able to spot a good amount of wildlife though the water as well as seals watching us.
