Martin and Phil came for a kayak from Gairloch Harbour. They chose to use the sea kayaks and we headed off around the loch to see what we could find along the craggy coastline and in the bays.

Richard and Mary-Ann had hoped to spend the week fishing as they do most years up here but the distinct lack of rain for the last couple of months has left the rivers a bit low for fishing. Kayaking on the sea was a good alternative!

Heather came for a quick jaunt around the coastline, the crystal clear waters and sunshine made it a great relaxing paddle.

Simon, Aaron and Alistair joined me for the afternoon at Mellon Charles for another session with blue skies and blue seas. When the weather is like this what else would anyone rather do?

David and Jo met me on a lovely day in Mellon Charles for a paddle around the craggy coastline. Below is just one of the Lion’s Mane jellyfish that we saw along with some of the Moon jellyfish and a Blue jellyfish too.

Michael and Penny met me for a paddle around Gruinard Island, an island famous for it’s anthrax past. We had a great paddle with a porpoise jumping past us and seals swimming along with us. Since having a brew on the beach I’ve not noticed any effects from anthrax on my health yet….

Finlay and Iona chose the sit on tops for their session, a great choice for exploring the area on nice stable boats. Some of the seals inquisically followed us around as others ignored us whilst they lazed on the rocks in the sunshine.

Will and Nicole joined me for a sunny morning paddling. We got to spend our time exploring the coastline whilst being watched by seals. At one point an otter spotted us just after we’d seen him and he disappeared out of sight.

Paul and Anne have their own kayaks at home but rather than cart them all the way up here they came out for a paddle with me were they got to try out different boats to their normal ones.

Chris and Walt met me for a paddle from Badachro, we headed off in canoes and met up with this herd of seals lounging around on the rocks.

Paul, Jane, Andy and Jess came out on kayaks to explore the wonderful Wester Ross coastline.

Nicolas, Morag, John, Marcus and Fabiana came paddling with me in a kayak and canoes. As we paddled around we were able to spot wildlife like this beautiful Lion’s Mane Jellyfish.

Sam, Kevin, Michael, Andrew, Vicky and Amy took to the water in kayaks and a canoe from Gairloch Harbour. As we explored the craggy coastline we had a good time playing some games to test our paddling skills.

Sarah, Nicola, Edel and Greg were spending the week on holiday up here and fancied a change from the normal land based activities. This starfish was just one of the many creatures we spotted under the sea.

Robert and Marian happened to be staying yards from the ‘boom’ beach in Mellon Charles, it’s from here that we paddled today. There’s some lovely craggy coastline around the coast along with some great clear water.

Tim and Alice were staying up here for a week and fancied getting out on the water, we paddled across to the romantically named Isle of Ewe.

Pauline, Kim and Robert came across from the east coast for a kayak session. We had great conditions on the water again – sadly I’m getting used to sunshine everyday, soon the weather’s going to realise it’s over Scotland and that it should be dreich!

Kieran and Caroline enjoyed a sunny morning canoeing from Gairloch Harbour. The crystal clear waters were great for spotting wildlife in.
