Peter, Joseph, Amber, George and Emily joined me just south of Gairloch at Loch Shieldaig for some fun in the kayaks. We had a great morning learning skills, playing games, seeing the seals and scenery.

James, George and Isabella met me for their second session on the water, this time from the old military beach in Mellon Charles. We took the sea kayaks out this time and learnt how they paddle compared to the sit on tops we used the other day.

The low tide gave us a great opportunity to spot lots of sea life all around the craggy coastline.

Julia, Dave, Georgina and Jack joined me for some fun canoeing. We had a great time paddling around the craggy coastline and spotting seals swimming near us. We ended with Georgina and Jack getting thrown from the slip way into the water – for fun, not as a punishment!

James, Isabella and George joined me for an afternoon on sit on top kayaks. James’ parents live in Ullapool and as a Christmas present bought them two sessions out on the water with me. We had a good time paddling around the sheltered loch whilst watching the many seals and having fun.

Jonathan and Ross didn’t have far to walk to meet me, Jonathan is currently renovating Charleston House, which overlooks the harbour area. Being so close to the water he’s keen to learn to kayak and be able to get out for a paddle straight from his doorstep when he gets his own boat.

Johnny, Julia, Rosie and Eliza came to Gairloch for a paddle. We headed around the coastline and luckily had a nice low tide which enabled us to spot lots of sea life in and around the water.

Jane, Aodhan and Grace joined me for some damp kayaking. We had a ‘refreshing’ heavy rain shower just after our brew break, not being wet enough they all ended up swimming after that. In the end it was hard to keep Grace on her boat as she kept jumping off!

Molly, Frazer and Wayne stopped off on their #NC500 trip for an afternoons kayaking. We had a nice low tide so as well as the normal seals and bird life we were able to clearly spot lots of star fish and sea urchins as we kayaked around the rugged coastline.

Michael and Daisy joined me out in sea kayaks from Gairloch harbour. Michael runs a B&B down in Lochcarron and is keen to get out on the water when he can. We paddled along with the seals watching us as we admired the scenery, peace and tranquillity of the area.

Beth, Pete, Isla and Esmé met me for a mornings canoeing. We paddled around from Gairloch harbour to watch the seals swim along by us. The sky wasn’t quite as bright and blue as it could have been but that didn’t stop us having a great time exploring the great coastline.

Linda, Philip, Matthew and Rebecca came to Badachro for a kayak session. We had a good time reminding ourselves some good strokes to use to manoeuvre our boats, playing some fun games, seeing the wildlife and watching Matthew throw himself out of his boat.

Gill came this time leaving Harry back home looking after the new puppy and instead brought along young Albie for some fun on the water learning how to paddle kayaks and see some wildlife. We spotted the normal seals, birds and marine life but also spotted a quick glimpse of an otter.

Fabian, Sophie, Ella and Luka met me for a calm morning on the water from near the Shieldaig Lodge Hotel. Being from Belgium they don’t have the best coastline for paddling on, so enjoyed the quiet and remote craggy coastline.

Allison and Will met me for another trip out paddling, they’ve been out with me probably more than anyone else – gluttons for punishment! We had a slightly breezy day on the water but it certainly didn’t dampen their spirits.

Chloë and Stuart joined me for an adventurous trip out in kayaks as part of their #NC500 holiday. The sun chose to be nice to us, at least at times – this is north west Scotland! I wasn’t the only one working, Chloë has the tough job of writing a piece for the i newspaper about the NC500 – sounds like a tough job!

Mark, Ilana, Ben, Tal and Nadav were ‘enjoying’ the cooler climate Scotland has to offer from their home in Israel. We had a great time paddling around seeing the piles of seals all over the place.

Jacqui, Andrew, Hollie and Sophie joined me again for another session. They’re regular holiday makers to the area and it’s their third time out with me. Sadly my jokes haven’t changed much over the years, so they were probably bored by the same old unfunny jokes – sorry!

Jez, Khalid , Kai, Owain and Maria came out in canoes and kayaks with me. Steve and Junior chose to stay ashore instead of bob around on the water. The weather tried to dampen our spirits, but we all had a great time spotting seals, leaning skills and having fun.
