Patel kayak, Poolewe

Jatin and Shivam joined me again, almost a year to the day since last time. Shivam seemed quite keen to get wet with the amount of splashing he was dealing out so it was only right that he capsized at the end!

Wendy kayak, Poolewe

Wendy met me for a morning kayaking in Loch Ewe. She’s got her own sit on top kayak and was keen to try out a sea kayak. She had no problem adapting to the closed cockpit kayak at all.

Hardy kayak, Mellon Charles

Jayne and Paul joined me on a sunny afternoon to explore on Loch Ewe. Paul went for a sea kayak whilst Jayne opted for a sit on top kayak. Using different boats isn’t an issue at all on my sessions.

Eric & Riny kayak, Poolewe

Eric and Riny joined me in Poolewe to explore the coastline around Inverewe garden and beyond to Camas Phail. As we paddled along we made sure we gave the seals that were hauled out on Leac Bhuidhe Mhor a good amount of space so that we didn’t worry them.

James kayak, Loch Ewe

James joined me today to explore Loch Ewe. We paddled from Aultbea around the Isle of Ewe to Firemore Beach for a brew, then we headed back across to Sgeir an Araig, around the rest of the Isle of Ewe and back to Aultbea. Great conditions, good views and a nice bit of wildlife.

Anna & Ana kayak, Gairloch

Anna & Ana are cycling around some of the NC500, today was a rest day as they were only cycling from Kinlochewe to Gairloch. What better thing to do than take to the water and work the arms instead of the legs!

Duffy kayak, Gairloch

Kevin and Sue joined me for a morning paddle to explore the coastline south of Gairloch harbour. We a low tide so were able to spot lots of star fish and urchins as we pottered along.

Phil & Tim canoe, Poolewe

Phil and Tim have their own kayaks and paddleboards but they haven’t done much canoeing, so they were keen to have a session with me to learn some solo canoe skills. We spent time practicing different strokes so that they could maneuver their canoes nicely. The snow falling as we paddled was quite a change from last week but didn’t put any of us off too much!

Anderson kayak Poolewe

Kevin, Iris, Fiene and Stijn joined me for a sunny kayak from Poolewe. The wind picked up a bit but they all fought through it to the sheltered area by Inverewe where we played games, looked at the scenery, gazed through the water and spotted seals. They’re staying over by Bliss Haus which is a lovely cottage on the shore of Loch Ewe.

Rhodes kayak, Gruinard

I had another day with Allison, Will and Lucy. I think this might have been my 20th time on the water with Allison and Will – my normal conversation topics and jokes don’t quite cut it anymore! The lovely low tide gave us plenty of wildlife to see at the waterline whilst the sea eagle watch us from above.
