Bowie Kayak, Shieldaig
It seems like I’m having a run of repeat customers – Kathleen, Neil, Duncan and Calum didn’t break the run. Last time they were out on the water with me was a few years ago so I hoped they’d forgotten my normal jokes!

David and Frances have paddled with me a few times before but Clare had always found other things to do when we went out. She joined us in the front of my boat this time. Frances normally paddles her own boat but after trying out one of my sea kayaks I think she might be keen to use them in the future!
Sue, Tony and Maddie joined me again for another paddling session. Since I last had them out paddling they’ve really got into kayaking a lot, buying boats and learning more skills. Sadly Maddie recently injured herself so she was stuck in the front of my boat rather than whizzing around by herself.
Sally and Harry met me for session on the water, we had a nice low tide so were able to spot plenty of creatures under the water.
Morven, Gavin, Angus, Ailsa and Isla joined me for their third trip with me today, this time paddling from near the Shieldaig Lodge Hotel. As always it’s great to see customers come back again and again.
Shona, Alistair, Alice and Peter joined me again for another fun filled session on the water. We’d paddled at Shieldaig last year too, but it’s such a great place there’s plenty to see including lots of seals.
Sisters Suzanne and Rosalind explored the rocky coastline on sit on top kayaks, they’re good boats for negotiating the craggy coastline.
Hamish, Aidan and Erin came paddling from Gairloch harbour and spent a lot of time gazing through the water at all the wildlife below.
Jamie, Lisa, Carl, Juanita and Cameron-May spent the morning paddling with me in canoes. We had a nice low tide so lots of urchins and starfish were easily spotted above and below the waterline.
James, Cheryl and Cody crewed one boat whilst Sophie and Hailey jumped in my boat. We had a nice calm afternoon to learn some skills and have some fun on the water.
Colin and Lorna spent the morning in kayaks whilst Calum and Iona joined me in my canoe as we learnt to paddle and had fun playing around the rugged coastline.
Tim and Lauren came out with me this afternoon, exploring the interesting area just south of Gairloch harbour.
It may have been a grey day but Ian, Elaine, Samantha and Richard still enjoyed kayaking around the craggy coastline.
Kirsty, Gavin, Calum and Alec spent a sunny afternoon with me. The two lads got to grips with the little boats well and we had a good time exploring the area.
Lindsey, Matt and James escaped from the kids this morning for a relaxing kayak on the tranquil seas.
Philip, Clare, Eloise and Ceria met me for an afternoon sea kayaking from Shieldaig. We explored along the coastline around to Badachro, slightly different surroundings from their home in Switzerland!
Steven, Sophie and Lewis met me near the Shieldaig Lodge Hotel for a session on Loch Shieldaig. There’s less seals here lately than there normally are but we still spotted a few swimming around watching us.
Jemima, Paul, Kirsten, Ailsa and Rory came for some fun kayaking around the islands in Loch Shieldaig. At the end of the session the three younger smiths were keen to capsize but Jemima and Paul had more sense!
