Kristin & Andy kayak, Gairloch

Kristin and Andy spent a sunny morning paddling about from Gairloch Harbour with me. Andy has his own boat and was keen to refresh his memory of paddling strokes. Kristin is planning on getting a boat so was keen to practice strokes and learn how to kayak safely. They’re both keen to get out again to practice self rescue skills so that they can keep themselves safe in the future.

Claydon kayak, Gairloch

Bella and Daniel had just become the new owners of some of my older sit on top kayaks. They were out with me to learn what kit is good to have to keep them safe and also to practice rescue skills so that when they’re out they’ll be able to keep safe. The sunshine and calmness meant it was a great morning for it and it apparently didn’t feel too cold in wetsuits either! I was toasty in my drysuit!

Milsom kayak, Poolewe

Donna and Michael has great calm conditions for their kayak with me. It might be chilly in October but we get some fantastic days!

Smith kayak, Mellon Charles

Alison and Emma have paddled with me before numerous times but never from Mellon Charles. We spent time exploring the craggy coastline and since we had a nice low tide we got great views of the wildlife that lives below the waterline.

A regular family joined me again, this time dragging along a couple of new poor folk. David, Tanya, Robbie, Cal, Frank and Hannah spent an energetic afternoon paddling with me at Mellon Charles. Just before the end of the session we bumped into two otters swimming about and then sat on rocks.

Smith Turnbull kayak, Poolewe

Paul and Kay enjoyed spotting seals as we paddled on very calm water – mirror like in fact!

Covell Terry kayak, Poolewe

Eleanor and Chris had very calm seas to paddle around Inverewe garden. As we got to Camas Glas we spotted a huge white tailed eagle above, he then landed on the rocks just in front of us and sat there watching us for about half an hour. Was he hungry, was he sizing us up?…

Young kayak, Poolewe

Elaine and Paul spent a damp morning learning some skills and exploring the coastline. As normal there were seals watching us watching them!

Jones kayak, Loch Maree

Nick had a full day stuck with me paddling around the islands of Loch Maree. The forecast was for rain and a bit of wind, we got the rain but had a very calm day wind wise. Despite the rain it was a great day, very atmospheric!
